It's time to a take break from the more "serious" stuff. This is my latest caricature, a portrait of my "lawyer" with my goddaughter and her loving husband. Our friendship goes way back in college and I've known this lady to be very tough. I don't know why she ended up as a lawyer when our university's physics department was known for producing top-notch "physicians".hehe

Whatever her reasons were, I am very happy that she has finally chosen a field where she can sink her fangs into. Deep. But to be honest, I'm happier that I get legal advice and notarization for free!hahaha

Anyway, my friend here used to envy my three names and the crazy couple that they were came up with a crazier name for my goddaughter. Yazou Nizhoni Zuleika! Damn, I don't know if I even spelled it right! What were you guys into when you named this poor little girl?hahaha I am worried about the day she learns how to write; she will always be the last pupil to finish their writing exercises. I hope she doesn't drop out of school and rebel because of her name.:P What the hell am I saying? I'm sure this baby will turn out to be one of the brightest kids this world has to offer. Just look at that smirk, LOVELY!

Happy Valentimes Day

This is Ces, my girl best friend since college, and her new boyfriend. She asked me to do a quick 3-hour commission, which took 6 days for me to finish 'coz I had lazily jumbled three tasks during the past week not to mention the trips to watch the hot-air balloon festival and the Mt. Pinatubo trek with friends.

This is the 3rd caricature that Ces has commissioned me. The first one was with her first boyfriend, my roommate who also happens to be one of my best friends. And the bastard doesn't want to give the caricature back because he thinks he's going to make a fortune out of it someday. I don't want to talk about the second drawing. As far as I know it got burned along with love letters by the dying flames of her second boyfriend's passion. I sincerely wish this will be the last time I'm going to draw for my best friend 'coz I'm starting to believe that my caricatures have jinxed her in love.hahaha

Birth Pangs

I'm 2 weeks delayed in one project and 3 days in another. I never expected it to be this stressful nor considered having the two of them coincide for a single day. The pressure of being needed in two places at one time and traveling to and fro the opposite poles of the metro is very overwhelming. In fact, I've exhausted all the invectives to myself for pursuing these when from the onset telltales of incompetence were clearly laid out in front of me.

The truth is I'm numb. Numb from the constant badgering of my lady friends, numb from clueless workers who still managed to smile after carrying out instructions the other way and numb from the numbness of a disheartened ally. I've used the N word quite effectively, might as well change the first one with a D. So anyone reading this right now, don't mind me. I just want all these to be over with. Tomorrow!

I wanna get back to painting and have 5 of my artworks "hanged". I miss my pens and my paint tubes; and oh I almost missed retrieving my last artwork from Faber Castel. It turned out that my unfinished artwork, Red Threading 2: Parade of the Trojan Whores, was chosen as part of the Sining Awards exhibit.

The public viewing of MADE semifinalists was held last June 6 and 7 at the Fortune building at Legaspi Village, Makati. There were more than 20 wondeful watercolor entries that made it to the cut. I couldn't even hope of making it to the finals with all those entries meticulously done with a master's touch. It was also a surprise to find my former boss's two re-entries to the architectural design category. I just hope he wins this time. I was so overwhelmed and inspired that I rushed back home and tried to finish my art series.

My participation to the contest was only made possible by 3 important ladies. First, my mom for sending all the required documents upon a very short notice. Then my beautiful ate who decided to call in late for work just so we could have this entry framed and to my friend-enemy-friend for giving me the perfect metaphor 15min before I submitted this to Metrobank. I would also like to thank my friends (you know who you are) for their unending support and to all those who came a long way just to see my entry.

This is a quick commission I did for my voluptuous friend Yvonne. Her boyfriend Aaron, who's a big fan of Ironman, is celebrating his 26th birthday today. I just hope this caricature made it on time. Happy birthday Aaronman!
