"Galatea's Gala"
11 ¾ “ x 16 ½“
When I first saw her, she was kinda pale. We were both pale. I was hesitant to approach her but something in that innocent countenance drew me in. I struck up a conversation and she was very engaging. Next thing I knew, I was already hooked and has been looking forward to her passing by my place. We’ve been friends for quite some time now but I think I’ve known her for a very long time. The pallor from our first meeting was replaced by a very colorful friendship that I never would have imagined possible.
It was during the time I feared I won’t be seeing her again that she commissioned an artwork from me. When we lost touch, I started to do this very special artwork. The whole time feels like she was still around and as I drew each element along, flashes of our conversations started to materialize before my eyes. It was like her taking me to the actual places she’d been to. And I’ve never thought two weeks can pass so quickly.
This is for Galatea, I wish my Afrodite grants me the chance to see her in the flesh. I also would like to thank you for the privilege and pleasure of doing this commission.
Here are some parting pictures of Galatea and I. The commissioned artwork comes with a certificate of authenticity and a few other surprises.
Have a fun weekend everyone!

ReplyDeleteTears at the unutterable beauty of this piece...this wonder. You are quite remarkable, Bjornik. I have to return to your site time and time again, just to drink deeply of the myriad detail and sheer enchantment of your art.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think I'd ever see anything more beautiful than Bella Luna, but you have proven me wrong. Bjornik, I am spellbound and I can hardly breathe. Your work is beyond the beyond, and there are not enough words to express how I feel about this piece. I can only laugh and cry and wait for the tingling to subside. Your elephant bidding the artwork bon voyage breaks my heart. I hope you can see it again one day.
ReplyDeletePromise me you won't squeeze that little elephant too hard, ok? I don't want him to pop.
ReplyDeleteShe's beautiful... I love the shape of her hands.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I love the elephants!
*love*
ReplyDeleteBjornik how is it possible to do this. For you to write like this and then for you to be able to make heaven on paper.
ReplyDeleteI am so blown away as usual. Stunned.
love Renee xoxoo
I am crying too - because I am a jealous person and I want one! I need to figure out how to enlarge your art on my screen so I can look at all the detail - I know I am repeating myself but it is truly amazing - I love how the elephants snouts are heart shaped.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful, brilliant work. No single adjective can describe the wonder of your work! Perhaps we can borrow your name as a new descriptive - it's 'bjornik'!!
ReplyDeleteThis one is definitely one of my favorites, the details are wonderful and the execution magnificent. So many great surprises and subtle stories all merged into one great piece. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's so beautiful and it moves me to the top of the world and I am feeling its presence:)
ReplyDeleteThis is stunning Bjornik. I am so glad I found your blog!

Hi,
ReplyDeleteI've just discovered you work at LCSV4 and I'm amazed! Congratulations! It kind of remind me of some of the early works from the 60's by Patrick Woodroffe. Truely amazing! I'll keep an eye on this blog :)
Beautiful beyond words!
