This is the last piece from my Shah Mat series. Though I would have wanted it to end with The King’s Gambit, this slippery knight had eluded me twice and is now hopping in all it’s excitement to spoil the presentation. Thanks to Yoli for reminding me and this week’s IF prompt, Alekhine is back.
You need not run after this knight. Just give him a minute and he’ll pass by you again, fluctuating while he licks his lollipop. You don’t see his lollipop? Well, I’ll let you wallow on the image then coz I don’t want to bore you with the hidden meaning anyway. I want to sound cool so yes, my illustrations are my way of venting out my frustrations with the economic downturn this 3rd world country has taken a decade ago.
I also wanted to summon the knights of the round table and make a series out of the bunch, Red Threading: Parade of the Trojan Whores. But I’m saving it for a grander occasion, say an art exhibit if I do get lucky with my art and if… I’m still alive after a year.hahaha By the way, I have taken a bolder step today when I submitted my latest painting to this year’s MADE competition. I was surprised that they still remembered Red Threading when they commented on the additional color in my palette. I hope I make it to the semifinals again so my message gets to a broader audience. If I do, I’ll post the pictures sooner. So please include me in your prayers and early Christmas wish lists.;)
You can see the other knight here. I hope to update them with better spot details soon.

This is all really great stuff. Ultra-creative!
ReplyDeletevery cool
ReplyDeleteI love the variety of line in your work! It's so nice to find crosshatching and pointillism in the same piece.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful geometric shapes. I love the composition.
ReplyDeleteYou are the irrefutable master. This has been the most breathtaking series, and I'm sad to see it end. Yes, I spy the lollipop! And his delicate, delicate hands. Makes me wonder how big he actually is under all that armor -- the delicious piecemeal suit of bits and scraps.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you soooo much for that riveting history lesson. I truly enjoyed reading it. :)
I am most definitely keeping everything crossed that you do well in the competition! I KNOW you will.
Burt, Damon, Megan & Sara. Thank you!:)
ReplyDeleteBella, don't be sad. It's mother's day today so don't frown.hehe I still have a few surprises left for you.:) And thank you, I really hope I make it again this year.
Bjornik I cannot believe that you won't win this.
ReplyDeleteAmazing, your work is amazing. I just looked at everything else and I am so stunned by all your work.
The detail shows so much strength and delicacy at the same time.
Bjornik you are truly amazing.
My wishes are sent to you straight on the morning air. I know they will get their in time for the competition.
I can't wait to see the painting and by the way, 3 ladies in pink and 1 in magenta. Well that is a total sign.
Love Renee xoxox
i always love seeing your work, there's always so much stuff to take in, amazing once again!
ReplyDeleteExcellent! as always
ReplyDeleteYour work again Bjornik = amazing.
ReplyDeleteThere is a very similar quote that I have read and it is so true 'To have a child is to forever have your heart walk outside of your body.'
Thanks for the quote, I love it.
Love Renee xoxo
Each of your piece is like multiple course gourmet meal. Takes a while to savor and enjoy :)
